Wanted - 600 walkers for art happening

Call for walkers at art happening "The map is not the territory" by Griet Dobbels (B) on Sunday 9 September 2012

Wanted: 600 walkers!

Walkers draw a living contour line in the landscape of Herzele

The whole action will be filmed from a helicopter and is a preparation for later contour line walks in rough mountainous areas, like in North England, Scotland, Austria and Switzerland. In those areas the goal is to create permanent “contour line walking paths” that draw an organic line through the landscape. After several years these paths would become visible on Google Maps.
During the happening in Herzele a temporary living contour line will be drawn, which will be filmed from high altitude.

Practical:
Startingpoint: Woubrechtegem at 13:30
Parking lot:  Dancings, Doornstraat 2-3, 9550 Sint-Lievens Esse

From there a shuttle takes the walkers to the contour line location. It’s a walking path with small obstacles, not possible with prams. The whole action will be filmed from high altitude: please wear colourful clothes. Wear walking shoes (rain boots if rainy weather). End foreseen around 5p.m. A shuttle takes the walkers back to the parking lot.
All together, the walker will cover about 5 kilometres. Toilets are available at the point of departure / end point. Afterwards everyone receives a ticket worth 1 consumption.

Tired but satisfied we can enjoy together a tasty picnic around a cosy campfire with musical accompaniment. Of course also those who didn’t participate in the art happening are very welcome! Local drinks will be available at the Arpia bar in The Old Brick Kiln, along with some tasty snacks - but bring your own picknick and bbq ingredients.
